Hints

No hints will be given in direct messages. If we are to release hints, they will be published in the #announcements channel on Discord.

🔥 Fire challenges 🔥

To make sure everyone is ready to go when the onsite action is taking place and to make it possible for smaller teams/single players to win prizes, we have added the concept of "fire challenges". If you are able to get first blood (be the first team that solves the challenge) on one of these challenges you will win a prize. These challenges are marked with flames "🔥" in the name.

Difficulty

Our target audience is students and beginners, but there will be challenges of various difficulty levels. Take a look at last years challenges here.

Divisions

We will have three divisions:

  • Students For teams where all members are onsite students.
  • Open For onsite teams that do not qualify for the student division.
  • Remote For participants competing online (not eligible for onsite prizes).

Team Size & Onsite Eligibility

Teams can have a maximum of 10 members. You can compete solo or form teams of any size up to this limit.

To qualify as an onsite team, all team members must be registered as onsite participants and physically present at the venue. Teams with any remote participants may still compete but are not eligible for onsite prizes and will be considered a "remote team".

Flag format

Duration

The CTF will start at November 8th 10:00:00 (Europe/Oslo), and ends after 10 hours on November 8th 20:00:00 (Europe/Oslo).

Prizes

The top team in each onsite division (Students and Open) will receive up to 10 trophies.

The top three teams in each onsite division will receive up to 10 coins.

Eligibility note: To qualify as an onsite team, all members must be registered as onsite participants. Teams with remote participants are not eligible for onsite prizes.

We will also be handing out exclusive EPT/Equinor Coins to some lucky winners using pseudo random algorithms and to participants who stand out in a positive way, for example by sharing write ups of challenges, reporting challenge bugs, etc.

Support

If you have technical issues or require assistance, create a support ticket in the #support channel on Discord. We will try to have someone online 24/7, but response times might be a bit slow during late night and early morning Norwegian time.

Rules

  1. Do not discuss challenge details in public. If you have issues with a challenge, create a support ticket on Discord
  2. Do not share hints or flags with other teams.
  3. Do not attack the CTF infrastructure.
  4. You are not allowed to brute-force any challenge on a server, unless specified otherwise.
  5. Be nice :)
